DRUM AND GUITAR INSTRUCTOR

Experience

I have 10 years of teaching experience and 24 years of playing experience. My main interest and career in drumming has involved studio work, creating unique rhythms for local artists, and performance in schools to teach the importance of percussion.

Instruments Taught and Topics

I am presently teaching all styles of drum set and marching snare drum to all age groups from eight to eighty, and all skill levels from beginners to advanced players. Various topics covered in lessons include development of strong primary rhythm, stick control, rudimental studies, linear drumming, dynamics, ghosting, tuning, odd time signatures, and an ability to perform with, and decipher recorded music. I also have been playing guitar for over 10 years and teach beginner and intermediate lessons.

Styles and Influences

My style of drum set playing has been broad and covers everything from rock, jazz, reggae, and latin, to an understanding of a fusion of all styles. I have many influences that include Bill Bruford (Yes), Stewart Copeland (Police), Max Roach (various jazz), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix), and John Densmore (The Doors) to say a few.
